I've read your blog on the Five reasons not to directly query SharePoint databases and am struggling to figure out how to achieve my goal through the SharePoint Object Model. 

 

In short, I want to display all items in my site collection that include a keyword and then group them by site, subsite, etc. I created a query that gets my results and use SP Designer to create a data view web part, to manipulate the data with group-bys, sorts, icon types and hyperlinks. It looks great!

 

The downside is that this is all against Microsoft's EULA. I didn't know if I could share my query and Designer results with you so that you could point me in the right direction on using the Object Model to yield the same results

 

Can you use SQL within the SP OM? Or do you have to use CAML only? My fear is that CAML won't be able to get my data the exact way I want it.

Can you point me to that Blog entry or in another direction to do this "correctly"? I want to replace a Web Part our Enterprise is using with a "best practice" part.

My name is Bilal, and I live in Denmark.
I'm a new  "student" in sharepoint, and I lead a huge organisation here in Denmark.
We've installed a new sharepoint site, that should have control on our document, and we have created many lists, for differents purposes.
I have a litle issue: We have an SMS gateway, that is running on Lotus Domino server, witch I'm expert in. The way it works is I have created few lists that's contain email and mobile numbers of more than 4000 person. I can from Domino website send messages to these lists.
These lists are now created in our sharepoint, but I can't find a way to send messages to these list.
What I need is a function or a way to send short messages to the address lists that we have created.
Do u have any idea about how we can manage that.
Sorry about my English, I speak arabic, dansih and frensh ;-)

I have an ApplicationMasterModule in C# which intercepts page requests allowing custom code to run before the page renders. Thus, I can intercept the request and check if it's an application page. Then I can change the master page reference dynamically as the page renders. So, now I have my my "/_layouts/MasterPages/Custom.master" page, with the dll in the GAC and the http module in the web.config. So far so good. Now, when I open the application.master in Sharepoint Designer I get controls, html and so forth, different than the default.master. So, can I make the application.master look like the default.master? Is there an easy way to do this i.e. copy and paste form and html elements from the default.master to the application.master? All I want to do is give the application.master driven (_layout) pages a consistent look and feel with the default.master. This seems to be a common complaint with MOSS 2007. Maybe there is another way? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Bruce

each user can login using his domain account and user can upload documents images Temp Quota is 100 mg  OK !
