SharePoint 2010 User Profile Application service enables you to create custom profile for each user in SharePoint and you can import the profiles data from external sources like Active Directory or HR system.
When you create new custom attribute in user profile, it will not show automatically in the user’s profiles page. You have to enable settings in the attribute properties page.
