Get Office Web Apps Now on your SkyDrive

                          OfficeWebAppsSkyDrive

You can get access to Office Web Apps on SkyDrive today.

  • Change your location from your account settings to United Kingdom and save.
  • Switch to your SkyDrive and you will get the new menu on the left.

Currently, Excel Web App is available.  Word, OneNote and PowerPoint are still to come.

Does anybody know exact dates?

This was a trick I learnt from member in EGYSUG, thanks Faisal.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the apps.

Mohamed Yehia

Why I love EGYSUG?

EGYSUG-logo1

I love the community, not any community but the SharePoint user community, particularly in Egypt, the Egypt SharePoint User Group.  I love all attendees, regular members, speakers and of course the organizing committee.

 greatcrowed

I am proud to be part of this group and to be around such marvelous people.

With every event in EGYSUG, I am privileged to know new interesting people.  Its an outstanding, splendid and overwhelming experience.   I get the chance to talk to them, assist them, share my expertise with them and most important learn from everybody.  I think this what it’s all about, about sharing and learning from others.

All this was yesterday, in our launch SP2010 Launch party.  After the introduction by Kailash, Ayman El Hattab presented the new cool Visual Studio tools for SharePoint, Shady Korshed dug into Web Parts development in SP 2010, Hesham Mortada gave us a tour around the all new PowerPivot.  After we finally got streaming for the keynote I presented Office Web Apps and Marwan Tarek ended it up with the cool PowerShell cmdlets for SharePoint.  We had also quizzes and giveaways for our attendees.

I really enjoyed the event.  I hope you did too.  See you sooooon!

Thanks for all the attendees and members for sharing your time with us.

Special thanks to the organizing committee.

Please stay tuned to our Facebook group - EGYSUG for photos and updates

You can also find my presentation on slideshare.net > mohdyehia > Office Web Apps

SharePoint Saturday India - May 2010

As expected and follow up from the first event, this one was fantastic and well organized.  With the follow up emails and reminders, Rajendera and the rest of SPSIndia team did a great job.SharePointSaturday

I was in Senegal, connecting to my virtual machine hosted in Western Europe broadcasting to India.  It was a slow connection but everything went just fine.

 SPSIndia_Senegal

With all the new fun in SharePoint 2010, today I presented “Word on the Server”  - The Word Web App and Word Automation Services.

Hope you enjoyed the presentation and the event.  You can find the slides on slide share, Word on the Server and the code snippets on my SkyDrive > Public > SPSIndia

I had to the pleasure and honor to be part of this event, as a listener and speaker.  I would like to thank SPS India team and the sponsors for such an event.   I am sure the team will announce the availability of the resources to stay tuned to the SharePoint Saturday India site  - and follow #SPSIndia on Twitter.

Personal note :Meanwhile in Cairo, another great event was exploding on Twitter TEDxCairo, the first TED event in Egypt.  Everybody there was teasing with all those tweets and hastags #TEDxCairo.  I almost cried.

Au revoir from Senegal  (I will be back home next week)

Create SharePoint Themes in Arabic

Feras from the web has asked me about creating SharePoint 2007 Themes that would appear in Arabic language.

Well, it should be similar to creating themes for English language, see Custom Site Theme for SharePoint 2007 (MOSS 2007) and WSS 3.0 under tigirry's SharePoint Blog but look for SPThemes.xml under 1025 folder instead of 1033.  1025 is the Locale Identifier for Arabic in Windows.

Happy Theme-ing!

Mohamed Yehia
